THE DRAWERS EXHIBITION
personal, artiscti project | Kasia Michalski Gallery, Warsaw | 2015
Kasia Michalski, gallery owner, first bought one of my Łapińska Porcelana plates, and then contacted me to participate in the group exhibition titled The Drawers. I was immediately overjoyed and very excited since it was my first collaboration with a gallery.
The title of the presentation, The Drawers, refers both to the place as well as the subjects of the show. The majority of works were made on paper, although drawing is not the only medium the artists utilise. The works showcased by the exhibition aptly represent the selected artists’ individual styles and their manifold interests and activities. The show consists of two parts: in the main gallery space, the artists themselves arranged a few chosen works. Then, the exhibition continues in the chest of drawers, where a wider selection is shown.
Participants of the first edition: Rafał Dominik, Ewa Doroszenko, Michał Gayer, Ewa Iwaniuk, Maria Jeglińska, Piotr Krzymowski, Magdalena Łapińska, Maess, Szymon Szewczyk
I titled my series, five acrylic drawings done on paper, Holiday Hybrid. The rough drafts for this project were created during my six-month stay in Australia. It happened to be summertime there, so the drawings reference the summer, sun, ice-cream, boats...
